BY issuing the policies, the General Authority for Survey and Geospatial Information aims to regulate, develop, supervise, and monitor the surveying, geospatial information and imaging sector in the Kingdom, in a manner that achieves quality, enhances performance.
This document provides the description of the overarching governance framework of Geospatial Foundation Themes for the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia (KSA). It sets out the Governance structures, roles and responsibilities, and principles that govern the development, maintenance and sharing of Geospatial Foundation Themes at national level.
National Geospatial Data Policies GEOSA develops policies for national geospatial data assets in KSA; These geospatial policies include geospatial data protection, geospatial data classification, geospatial data licensing, geospatial data pricing, and geospatial data sharing. The national geospatial policies have been developed in alignment with the Geospatial Data Governance Framework issued by the General Authority for Survey and Geospatial Information, the National Strategy for Data and AI issued by Saudi Data and AI Authority, and Controls, frameworks and guidelines issued by the National Cybersecurity Authority. The guide aims to help government entities to establish it owns geospatial information units according to the designated roles and improving it continuously to perform these roles as stated. Also instructs the government entities to operate these units through effective governance of their responsibilities in a manner that ensures the implementation of geospatial data policies and standards. The guide seeks to ensure the integration and quality of the geospatial information ecosystem across the Kingdom, as well as to accelerate access and exchange of information, avoid duplication, reduce costs, and achieving spending efficiency.
