The General Authority for Survey and Geospatial Information (GEOSA) issues these policies to regulate the surveying and geospatial information sector and its related imaging activities in the Kingdom, advance the sector, and oversee and monitor its operations to ensure quality and improve performance.

This document provides a comprehensive description of the governance framework for the National Geospatial Fundamental Layers. It defines the governance structure, roles, responsibilities, principles, and policies governing the development, maintenance, and sharing of these fundamental layers at the national level.

National Geospatial Data Policies

The Authority has developed a set of national geospatial data policies for the Kingdom. These cover data classification, sharing mechanisms, protection, licensing, and pricing. The national geospatial policies were developed in alignment with the Geospatial Data Governance Framework issued by GEOSA, the National Data Governance Policies issued by the Saudi Data and Artificial Intelligence Authority, and the Essential Cybersecurity Controls issued by the National Cybersecurity Authority.

Guide to Establishing and Operating Geospatial Information Units in Government Entities

This guide helps government entities establish geospatial information units according to their assigned roles and continuously improve how those roles are performed. It also guides entities in operating these units by governing their roles and ensuring compliance with geospatial data policies and standards. The guide aims to ensure the integration and quality of the Kingdom’s geospatial information ecosystem, facilitate rapid and easy information exchange, and avoid duplication, thereby reducing costs and improving spending efficiency.
