Remote sensing

It the science that studies objects, features, phenomena, and lands on the earth without making physical contact with these objects. This study is done through using ground, air or space sensors to gather electromagnetic radiation that is emitted or reflected by the object or surrounding areas. The latest technologies are used in collecting data through optical sensors, as well as processing and analyzing these data, and utilizing them in various studies and map production uses.

Technologies used in Remote Sensing

1. Passive sensors

2. Sensors that rely on the natural source of electromagnetic radiation (the sun), which reflects off objects and is received by these sensors, including:

  • Short Wave Infrared (SWIR)
  • Near Infrared Surveys (NIR)
  • Hyperspectral Imaging
  • Radiometrics

3.Active sensors

Sensors that rely on an artificial source of electromagnetic radiation, where the sensor emits electromagnetic waves that reflect off objects and are received by the sensor again.

  • Radar
  • Lidar
